The aim of this study was to describe important aspects of a comprehensive perio‑prosthetic approach to the treatment of patients with periodontal problems based on the literature and own clinical experience. Periodontitis is characterized by progressive destruction of the periodontium. The anatomy of periodontium, staged periodontal treatment, proper planning and designing of fixed and removable dentures and plaque control in the after‑care (especially in re‑call phase) were described. In this article iatrogenic factors and their role in etiology of the periodontal diseases were emphasized as well.
