Pilomatrixoma (Mahlerbe calcified epithelioma) is a resilient, circular, painless tumor derived from the cells of the hair matrix. It can reach a size up to 3 cm. Is often located on the face, slightly more common in women, usually in children. It is a slow growing tumor, which can become malignant - pilomatrix carcinoma, giving distant metastases to the lungs and bones. This tumor should be differentiated from atheroma, epidermal cyst or basal cell carcinoma. The diagnosis is made by histopathological examination. The mild form of pilomatrixoma is treated surgically by removing the lesion along with the margin of the healthy tissue. The authors present a case of a 7-year-old patient with a nodule on his cheek with a diameter of about 17 mm. The lesion was enucleated under general anesthesia. Histopathological examination showed pilomatrixoma.

Key words: pilomatrixoma, calcifying epithelioma, benign tumor.
